Take five minutes to answer the questions on the handout. Do not contemplate any one question for more than a few moments. Groups of 4 will be given two different magazine ads For each Ad: Look at the claims being made by the advertisement. Is the claim realistic? Explain. Is the advertiser appealing to the emotions of consumers? What promises are being made? What problem will be solved by using this product? Does the product pose a health risk? If yes what type of risks? IDENTIFY the common advertising technique being used and EXPLAIN how they were used. Based on the ad, would you be compelled to buy this product? Why or why not? Be prepared to discuss your answers with the class.
