3
Name Creature Objective: Students will create a creature using their name. Programs: Paint, Publisher Vocabulary: Cursive, Symmetry, Congruent, Rotate (Rotation), Reflect (Reflection), Translate(Translation)
4
Name Creature Art TEKS: 1A- illustrate concepts from direct observation 1B- use art vocabulary appropriately, understand and apply Elements of Art including line, shape, color, texture, form, space, and value as the fundamentals of art in personal artworks 2A- create original artworks 2B- apply art-making process to solve problems and generate design solutions 2C- produce artworks using a variety of materials including
5
Name Creature Technology TEKS:1B- create, present, and publish original works as a means of personal or group expression 4F- transfer current knowledge to the learning of newly encountered technologies 6A- define and use current technology terminology appropriately 6D- understand and use software applications, including selecting and using software for a defined task Math TEKS:1A- apply mathematics to problems arising in everyday life, society, and the work place 10A- generalize the properties of orientation and congruence of rotations, reflections, and translations
6
Name Creature 1. Open a Paint document and draw a line from left to right in the center of the page. 2. Write your first name in cursive on the line. Make sure the letters touch the line. 3. Copy you name, reflect it, and paste it on the bottom of the line to make a symmetrical copy of your name. 4. You may rotate your design if you wish. 5. Create a creature using your symmetrical design. You must add 5 features to your creature. Do not erase the black line of your name. 6. Copy your design to Publisher for printing.
