Copyright © 2013 Juan Pablo Hourcade. 3 Horizontal and vertical prototyping Develop horizontal prototype implementing all primary high-level screens Identify four key tasks your software will support –At least two should be of some complexity Extend your prototype to enable testing of how these tasks would be accomplished (vertical prototyping) Non-supported actions may default to “Under development” message or screen

Copyright © 2013 Juan Pablo Hourcade. 4 Usability testing materials You will develop materials to test the four key tasks your prototype supports –Screening questionnaire to select participants –Pre-test demographic information form Age, gender, education, computer use, use of technologies similar to yours, any other relevant information –Post-test user satisfaction form (see QUIS) –Script you will read during usability testing Introduces usability testing, think aloud Asks participant to fill out demographic information form Introduces tasks –Ask for estimated time of completion for task Asks them to fill out post-test satisfaction form
