Outlines Do NOT complete the sections that say “Rhetorical Device” at this point. Tell that audience what you will tell them, then tell them, and then tell them what you told them. Introduction Hook – Bring the audience in! – Interesting statistic – Interesting quotation – How it affects us Background Info. – Let us know some general research! – Define the topic – Tell why it’s a controversial problem – Tell where it occurs (that you are focusing on) Claim – Write your cause or effect claim, being sure that your 3 points are very clear!

Reason #1 This is where you write your first cause or first effect. You must have at least 2 pieces of evidence from your research for this 1 st cause or effect. – These are written on A and B with the source. Explain each piece of evidence on 1 and 2. – Use your logos and pathos mind maps for evidence. – If you want/need to add a 3 rd or 4 th piece of evidence, create letters C and D on the back of the first page of the outline.

Conclusion Restate why the topic is a problem. Restate your claim. Share solutions. – What are the possible solutions that exist? – Which solution do you think is the best? – What is your vision for the future?
