Applications and Profiles At the top of the stack, we find the Applications Applications are divided into specific areas,or Profiles –Building Automation inc Lighting Includes commercial Lighting, HVAC –Residential and Light Commercial –Industrial Control –Remote Control / Consumer Electronics Profiles define specific application devices –The devices themselves –Interaction and behaviour BA Profiles ResiHVACIC

Profiles Architecture WG The top of the Network / Security / 15.4 stack is an empty frame –Includes addressing to a 15.4 node The Profiles Architecture WG defines the infrastructure on top of the services provided by the ZigBee stack to provide a common device model and command set This interface is defined in the General Operational Framework, or “GOF”

General Operational Framework The GOF currently covers: –Sub-addressing and addressing modes –Object Model –Device Description Type of device, power source, sleep modes, coordinator, etc –Commands Set/Get, Method, Event, Transparent and their Responses –Data formats including linear, exponential, relative time, string –Application level Error signalling and handling Actual details provided by the individual Profile Actual application profiles are defined in the individual profiles WGs –eg the Building Automation WG
