The Pilgrims left to America to leave the religious persecution happening in England. They were seeking for religious freedom and an environment they could raise their children in that was safe. They traveled on the Mayflower, a large cargo ship not designed for passengers. There were 102 passengers aboard, and only two died at sea. Because of their willingness and devotion, I have a better place to live in today. I have the laws of today, I live in America, and I have religious freedom.

The laws of today are the way they are because of the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims wanted to live in a place that was right for their religion. They wanted to do the things they had to, to live their religion. Laws like freedom of speech and religion are from the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims shaped and formed the laws of today.

Because of the Pilgrims, I live in America. If the Pilgrims did not stay to their faith, and left England, I don’t think I would be living in America. Many, if not most Americans can trace ancestors back to the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims started a trend of coming to America that would not of been created without their devotion of faith. I also think if England would not have been hard on them, then they would not of left England. Because of the Pilgrims, I am American.
11
The biggest reason the Pilgrims left was because of their wants of religious freedom. If the Pilgrims would not have stayed true to their faith, I would be part of the English church. The Pilgrims wanted to practice their religion freely and openly, so they went to America. I also think King James helped freedom of religion. If he didn’t want only one religion, I would be in England. It was the Pilgrims that sparked freedom of religion.
