Parametric Equations To use your calculator to graph a parametric equation: Go to mode and put your calculator in parametric mode Push y = and type in X 1T and Y 1T Set your window to the given interval. The given interval will be the T-min and T-max

Parametric Equations Eliminating the parameter: Given the parametric equations write the equation in rectangular form (as y = mx + b) Take your x equals equation and solve for t T will now be in terms of x Substitute in what t equals for all the t’s in the y equals equation Simplify

Parametric Equations Finding the parametric equations for a graph Given an equation in rectangular form y = mx + b and a parameter Take the parameter and solve for x X will now be in terms of t.

Parametric Equations Substitute in what x equals for all the x’s in the equation Simplify Your final answer should be two equations x equals and y equals and both equations should have a t in them
