6 Enhancing a social conscience through service IV. 2 In Mexico only 13 of every 100 persons who start elementary school are able to complete higher education. In México is mandatory to fulfill 500 hours of service to graduate from college. 100% of UDEM students carry out 500 hours of community service in contact with impoverished communities. UDEM responds to Mexico´s socioeconomic reality

7 Enhancing a social conscience through service IV. 2 The social programs are diverse: more than 100 different options including projects that benefit children, youth, adults and elderly in urban, suburban, rural or indigenes areas. Students can choose to create their own social project. More than 24 students from abroad have participated in our rural programs. During their community service program UDEM students are accompanied by either a member of the faculty or by a staff member. UDEM responds to Mexico´s socioeconomic reality
