2. Introduction This report highlights the achievements of DSPR Jordan within the programs and activities towards Syrian refugees in Jordan. The activities focused on children of both gender and Syrian and needy women through Mother Support Group program focusing on utilizing the available resources which witnessed a decline of fund and the expansion of networking with more volunteers, committees, and local NGO’s which had an important role in this month activities

3. Focus Areas DSPR Jordan August activities focused on four governorates: - IrbidJerashAmmanMadaba The program focused on: Mothers & House WivesChildren of both genders age(8-14)

4. Children Forums DSPR Jordan launched children forums program this summer in the fields of summer camps in four areas at the four governorates. The total number of participated children was (160) divided on (4) camps. The program included the following activities: Dialogue Principles Preparation for School Self Learning Methods Voluntary Work (Theoretical& Practical)

5. Dialogue Principles (160) Children participated at this program based on the idea of providing children of both gender with the skills of running dialogues among themselves, their families and in school. The program included skills of dialogue identification, dialogue elements, in addition to practical exercises and feed back about the gained skills focusing on (active listening). Jamilah Meqdad Syrian refugee (13) years old from Irbid Camp said: “ I learnt a lot about dialogue, at the same day I participated, I went home and talked to my mother and we agreed to use dialogue always in our lives”.

6. Voluntary Work The children moved to voluntary work were they received lessons through working groups about voluntary work concept and its importance, bases, and fields. It showed the children that they have to specify some of their time for voluntary work which will positively have impact on individuals and society. After that the children started to prepare themselves supported by their supervisors to implement voluntary work plan where the managed to implement (4) activities in the camps with cooperation of local committees and other CBO’s.

7. Self Learning The children focused on the idea that school is about to start and the importance of self learning and kinds of self learning which were: Action Based research Reading Do it yourself Mohammed AlHariri (12) years old Syrian refugee in Madaba said: “ Today I knew how I suppose to read, reading is very important”

8. Preparing for School This activity was based on the fact that schools will start soon and the summer holiday is over. Back to school requires preparations where it was discussed and prepared by children supervisors where the prepared guidelines that included guides for children and their role in preparing themselves to go back to school in addition to some skills on how to prepare their school needs and best use of available resources to minimize cost due to the fact that all refuge families have more than one child going back to school which means more financial burden on them.

9. Happy and Joyful End At the end of the program DSPR Jordan distributed stationary gifts to all children who participated at children forums to support them and their families with schools needs. Nabila AlHamad (12) years old girls from Souf Camp said: “ My mother will be so happy when she knows that I received a gift from DSPR. I do not need to by school stationary, I have it all.

10. Mothers Support Group Program This program was planned on the base of determine the local needs last Ramadan which is “ the role of mother with their children in a changing environment”. This subject is very important taking into consideration the refuge circumstances and the harsh life that refugees are facing which created conflict and struggles within. This activities came out as a result of those needs where (160) women participated in (4) governorates. Prior to these activities, DSPR conducted several meetings with trainer to prepare the appropriate plans of these activities to determine the training methods and use the role playing methodology. The activities focused on the best mechanisms of dealing with these women. The program showed positive feed back and acceptance. Samar Al-Irany, Syrian woman from Souf Camp said: “ You in DSPR picked very important and sensitive topic that we needed to know how to deal with the fast and daily changing events in our lives”.

11. Space for hope during August As mentioned earlier, the available resources to work started to decline, which led us to better use of the available resources. Therefore, DSPR managed to increase the efficiency of the Syrian- Jordanian women committees, and recruit more volunteers from local communities, in addition to motivating CBO’s to support us, where the four camps committees provided logistic support to DSPR especially in summer camps where they provided us with tools needed for the voluntary work campaigns such as cleaning tools, plastic bags. (40) Volunteers from different NGO’s and CBO’s participated in this program.

12. Humanitarian Accountability Partnership & Complaint Response Mechanism DSPR started the second phase of building Complaint Response Mechanism. DSPR conducted a workshop on Saturday August 30 th for the board and staff. CRM committee was formulated to deal with complaints, and its ToR. In addition to that, an action plan was discussed to start implementation of the CRM at centers and field levels. The plan was approved with flexibility in implementation in the light of available fund. Training manual will be produced to guide users on the complaint response mechanism on field level to be used by all trainers.
