Stinkin' Thinkin'? 1 Samuel 6:1-11 What was their problem? Deut. 28:1-2, 7

Stinkin' Thinkin'? They didn't know their Bibles.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Satan can affect our thoughts (Mk. 8:31-33)...as does the world, as does our flesh. That's a problem.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 4:1-4 - Test #1 The test: Command that these stones become bread. The problem: Who does the providing?

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 4:1-4 - Test #1 The response: Ultimately it's God, not man, who provides. Dt. 8:1-4

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 4:5-7 - Test #2 The Test: Cast yourself down and let the angels protect you (quotes Scripture!) The problem: Should we make God prove Himself?

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 4:5-7 - Test #2 The response: Don't try to force God's hand. Ex. 17:1-7 "tempted"; "contention"

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 4:8-10 - Test #3 The test: You can have all the kingdoms of the world if you worship Satan The problem: Who or what should be worshipped?

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 4:8-10 - Test #3 The response: You should only give worship to God Dt. 6:13

Stinkin' Thinkin'? The answer is not always readily apparent. Jesus hadn't simply memorized the passages... He studied them He knew the point of them He knew the right applications

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Knowing the Bible starts with being exposed to it By reading it By hearing it By memorizing it By studying it

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Matthew 22:23-33 Seven brothers for one bride The problem: If the resurrection is true, we have a problem. Which brother gets her?

Stinkin' Thinkin'? The response: You're ignorant of two things: 1) The Scriptures 2) God's power

Stinkin' Thinkin'? 1) God's power: The power of God enables resurrected bodies to not have normal concerns like death, injury, and marriage.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? 2) The Scriptures: God said "I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob". The word "am" = present tense; small but mighty.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? The Sadducees had spent a good deal of time in the Scriptures, but didn't understand them. Still, understanding starts with exposure.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? 2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Hebrews 5:11-16 Problem: Exposure without application. Solution: Use what you know.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Read it Study it Apply it

Stinkin' Thinkin'? A correct mind set, proper thinking, the right perspective is essential to walking with God.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Consider how important this concept is to Paul. Romans 8:1-6; 12:1-2 Col. 3:1-4

Stinkin' Thinkin'? Philippians 1:7; 2:2 (2Xs), 5; 3:15, 19; 4:2, 10 Prov. 4:20-23

Stinkin' Thinkin'? One of the main goals for the believer should be to think in a Biblical manner.

Stinkin' Thinkin'? We can't study and apply if we aren't exposed to it. One way to be exposed to it is to read it. BibleYear.com
