Global Distribution of GEF Transport Projects GEF support for transport project started in 1997; 64 projects in over 110 cities and 50 countries; $311million committed, with $5.1 billion leveraged in co-financing.

Asian Sustainable Transport & Urban Development Program First programmatic approach in the area of transportation Agency: Asian Development Bank Objective: Support Asian cities in realizing GHG reduction and local co-benefits through the integration of low-carbon transit infrastructure Financing: GEF $13.6 million; Co-financing $988 million Child Projects: –Bangladesh: Greater Dhaka Sustainable Transport Corridor Project –China: Jiangxi Fuzhou Urban Integrated Infrastructure Improvement, etc. –Mongolia: Urban Transport Development Project Key result so far: has mobilized other cities in the region to purse low- carbon transit system

GEF support for sustainable transport projects over the next four years (2014-2018) Innovative policies and mechanisms for freight and logistics services with the engagement of the private sector Urban sustainable transport infrastructure and systems that reduce demand for car travel, including Road and parking policies and pricing, Zoning and street/urban design codes, and Congestion pricing.
