3 ‘Accept’ is totally different to ‘except’. Learn what they mean and when to use them. America refused to accept the Versailles Treaty. Affect is a verb – one thing affects or influences another. Effect is a noun – Something can have knock on effects/results/consequences.

6 Effect can also be used as a verb, meaning to put into effect/to cause/achieve/to bring about. - The best way to effect change is to work with existing stakeholders. - You will effect these changes on Monday.

7 - Macbeth is about ambition and betrayal and these themes are still relevant today. - Spread sheets are a useful way to present data. - Our school is the best in Newport. - There is a growing number of pupils in our school. Are is a present tense form of the verb ‘to be’. ‘Our’ means belonging to us.

8 Hour means 60 minutes. There are 24 hours in a day and 168 hours in a week. Don’t get hour and our confused.
