Four Paths, Four Paces, and Four Phases The four paths refer to the way that the hands and torso move. The four Paces refer to the speed at which the hands or torso move The Four Phases refer to the way the hands or the torso interact with each other.

Path One is a straight line It is like a piston moving in an engine. Therefore we also call this path Pistonating.

Path Two is an arch It is like a pendulum or a swing that moves in a arch. Therefore we also call this path Pendulating (moving like a pendulum).
