The Gospel of Matthew The Parable of the Sower 13:1-9 Types of Ground – “ Way side” – “Beside the Road” (NASB) – birds. – Stony places – no depth – no “moisture” (Lk 8:6). – Thorns – “Thorns sprang up” – chocked. – “Good ground” (before seed) – yielded crop. “Ears to Hear” (cf. Mk 4:11,13).

The Gospel of Matthew Use of Parables 13:10-17 “ It Has Been Given To You.” – Cf. Lk 8:10 “the rest” & Mk 4:11 “those outside.” Seeing they do not see. (cf. 2 Cor 4:3-4). Blessed eyes and ears. – Isaiah 6 (cf. Ezek 12:2). Matthew uses LXX reading. – “They have closed” - “Grown Dull.” Many Desired to See. (cf. I Pet 1:10-12).
