Conclusions AICD has demonstrated the strong linkages between infrastructure and economic growth and poverty reduction For Africa to improve its growth performance and meet the MDG target on poverty reduction necessitates about US$93 bn of investment in infrastructure annually. These investments need to be efficient and it is necessary to put in place M&E systems to track progress and benchmark country performance and the AIKP provides an appropriate framework The AIKP will provide a sustainable database and knowledge base on infrastructure to meet the needs of various stakeholders – national, sub-regional, regional as well as international commitments. AIKP will provide technical assistance to support African countries to build their Infrastructure Statistics Systems
