5 What is the Purpose of the HTS?
Main goal of HTS is to: move people and cargo from one place to another in a safe, efficient, and economical manner. The National Highway Safety Act: Established by the Federal, State, and Local Government Set of traffic safety guidelines Enforced by people, motor vehicle dept, courts

6 Safety and Efficiency on the road… How can you reduce your risk of accidents and/or incidents on the road? Keep vehicle in top condition Anticipate the actions of others Take steps to protect yourself and others (how can you do this?) 4. Drive only when in sound mental and physical condition 5. Develop your driving skills

8 Space Cushion Space Cushion: leaving a margin of space between you and the car in front of you. Gives you room to maneuver your vehicle incase of sudden stops Increases reaction time

P= PREDICT what the hazard/risk will do D= DECIDE your safest plan of action E= EXECUTE your plan
