Interpretation User = employee Operator = self employed person DSE = any alphanumeric or graphic display screen equipment

Analysis of Workstations Users or Operators Review when no longer valid or significant changes Reduce risks to lowest level sfairp Carried out by competent person

Requirements for Workstations Meet the requirements in Schedule 1: – Lighting – Screen – Noise – Leg room – Windows blinds – Software – Chair – Etc

Daily Work Routine of Users Plan activities to include regular breaks Away from screen Short, infrequent breaks Where possible, users should have discretion over how they carry out tasks/routine

Eyes & Eyesight Eye tests for users when requested Eye tests carried out by competent person Where eye problems are identified in relation to DSE, employer shall provide corrective lenses

Training Employers should provide h&s training in in use of workstations to users/operators Training should be updated when workstation is substantially modified

Information Provide information to users/operators on: – H&S relating to their workstations – Measures taken under Regs 2 & 3 (Analysis and Requirements of Workstations) – Measures taken under Regs 4 & 6(2) (Work routines & training) – Measures taken under Reg 5 (Eye tests)
