8 ©SHRM 20078  Over 250 members conducted Capitol Hill visits last May in conjunction with the Employment Law and Legislative Conference and another planned for the November Leadership Conference  Through August, we have conducted 6 Day Inside the Beltway events for state councils/chapters, with 5 more planned in September and October  Numerous Day Inside the District events have taken place across the country, with more planned for the fall SHRM 2009 Advocacy Statistics To Date

12 ©SHRM 2007 ‘Club 435’  By January 20, 2010, identify one key contact in all 435 congressional districts  Provide each key contact a database of other HR Advocates residing in that congressional district  It will be the role of SHRM’s Member Advocacy staff and each state legislator director to reach out to the key contacts in their respective states 12

Each key contact will be asked to ensure that at least one face-to-face meeting with a legislator (federal or state) has occurred prior to Election Day 2010, during which the role HR professionals play in today’s workplaces is discussed, as well as advocating on a pending HR federal or state public policy matter. Each meeting should be coordinated in advance with SHRM GA staff. 13
