If you’re failing to plan, you’re planning to fail… Most people don’t plan to fail; they just fail to plan Decisions that will affect the rest of your life should be make carefully and logically.

A Seven-Step Process 1. Define your needs/wants 2. Analyze you resources 3. Identify your choices 4. Gather information 5. Evaluate your choices 6. Make a decision 7. Plan to reach your goal

4 Buying a Car... STEP ONE: Needs/Wants You need a car
You want a nice car

5 Buying a Car... STEP TWO: Analyze your resources Resource = Money
How much money do you have? How much will you need to save? How much car can you afford?

6 Buying a Car... STEP THREE: Identify your choices
How much car can you afford? Can you afford a new car, or will you look for a used car? Where can you look? Make a list of possibilities.

7 Buying a Car... STEP FOUR: Gather Information
Go to several car dealerships and see what is available. Check the classified ads for listings on car sales. Ask around to see if anyone knows of anyone selling a car. Take test drives

8 Buying a Car... STEP FIVE: Evaluate Your Choices Review your findings.
Consider your choices. Determine which factors are most important to you.

9 Buying a Car... STEP SIX: Make a Decision
After considering your choices and what is available to you, decide which car would best fit your needs.

10 Buying a Car... STEP SEVEN: Plan to reach your goal
What steps do you need to take to actually buy the car? Do you need to save more money? Do you need to take out a loan? Do you need insurance?

11 Finding a Career... Define your lifestyle needs/wants
Analyze your personal resources Identify your career choices Research your career choices Evaluate your career choices Decide on a career choice Plan to reach your goal

12 Activity You have won a $1000 gift card for Best Buy. How will you spend it? Go through each step of the “decision making process” to explain how you made your decision.
