6 © The Association of Independent Schools of NSW The plan for today… The aims of today are to:  To develop skills in creating tasks (non-HSC style) that can be used for formative assessment for Stage 6  To develop listening stimulus,associated tasks and feedback strategies that provide the scaffolding for effective and valid summative assessment

9 © The Association of Independent Schools of NSW What does formative assessment look like in the Languages classroom (Stage 6)?  Speaking practice (beginning/end of each lesson)  In class tasks (all skills)  Homework tasks (all skills)  Vocab/script quizzes  Ongoing projects ( journals, portfolios, blogs etc)  Holiday tasks (all skills)

11 © The Association of Independent Schools of NSW Let’s look at a sample template… Focus on:  Range of tasks  Sequencing tasks in order of difficulty  How will you differentiate the tasks?  How will you provide feedback to students?  How will you keep a record of this feedback?
