Draw a number line (straight line with arrows at both ends) Put zero in the middle Numbers to the right of zero are positive numbers Numbers to the left of zero are negative numbers (the number right next to 0 is -1, then write to the left by increasing the number)

Numbers to the left of 0 are negative (the numbers themselves increase, but their value decreases) Numbers to the right of 0 are positive (the numbers themselves increase, and their value increases also)
