4.  Classification:  FCI: Group 8: Retrievers Section 3: Water Dogs.  AKC: Working Group  UKC: Gundog Group  Appearance: Rustic dog, well proportioned (medium weight), long, narrow head, attractive appearance, of an athletic nature with well developed muscles. Docked tail in US only.  Males should be approximately 17 to 19 in. tall at the withers, and between 39 to 48 lbs. in weight.  Females should be approximately 15 to 18 in. tall at the withers, and between 30 to 39 lbs in weight.

5.  Coat: curly non-shedding coat that may naturally form cords. Low dander hypo- allergenic dog.  Grooming: Minimal grooming, never brush, separate matted cords, eyes and ears cleaned as needed.  Temperament: High energy, strong herding and protective instincts, loyal family dog, sensitive to sudden sounds and movement, moody, and strong willed. Extremely intelligent.
