Background ○ Koala Bear is a mammal and can live 17 years and is a marsupial.

Characteristics Koala bears are 2-3 feet long and weigh up to 30 pounds. They have soft woolly fur light gray to brown. Large noses that are pink or black. Koalas have big heads but really small brains.

Diet Koalas eat eucalyptus leaves. Koalas eat a small amount of dirt everyday to digest leaves.

Habitat Koalas are native to Australia. Koalas live in forests and woodland.

Adaptions Koalas have sharp claws to help them climb.

Jaw dropping facts Baby koalas are called Joeys. Joeys live in their mother's pouch for 6 months! Koalas wooly fur acts like a “raincoat”. Koalas aren’t bears they aren’t even related to bears.

Interesting Facts The reason the koala is called a koala bear is because the koala looks like a teddy bear! Koalas have rough paws so they act like grip on trees. Koalas eat 3 hours per day, usually during the nighttime, and rest 16 to 18 hours a day. Joeys are about the size of a large jellybean when they are born.
