Industrial Revolution Began in Great Britain in the 1700’s. Brought about industrialism which was a new economic system that relied on the use of machinery, rather than on animal or human power.

Causes of the Industrial Revolution Change in how British landowners used the land - Landowners enclosed lands and grew large tracts of the same crop. This allows for larger crops and more money. - Often the land was used for pasture to provide for sheep and cattle.

Causes of the Industrial Revolution Britain had a large number of people available to work in industry. - The enclosure movement forced many peasants off the land - These people moved to the big industrial cities to work in the new factories. - Population grew in the 1700’s and more workers were available

Causes of the Industrial Revolution Britain had an abundance of natural resources such as coal and iron. - Coal was used for fueling the machines used in the factories - Iron was the main material used for fabricating the machines

Causes of the Industrial Revolution Britain has wonderful harbors for shipping and rivers for transporting goods to the coast.
