2. INDIVIDUAL PROTECTIVE MEASURES  OVERCOME ROUTINES  MAINTAIN A LOW PROFILE  BE SENSITIVE TO, AND CHANGES IN, THE SECURITY ATMOSPHERE  BE PREPARED FOR UNEXPECTED EVENTS

3. OVERCOME ROUTINES  Vary your route to and from work,  Vary your time you arrive and depart  Exercise on a varying schedule  (It is best not to exercise alone )

4. OVERCOME ROUTINES  Avoid routines (time & location) for shopping, lunch, etc.  Do not divulge team or personal information to strangers  Enter and exit building through different doors, if possible

6. BE SENSITIVE To the CHANGES IN THE SECURITY ATMOSPHERE   Be alert for surveillance attempts, or suspicious persons/activities   Use the "buddy system"; travel in groups

9. BE PREPARED FOR UNEXPECTED EVENTS  Set up simple signal systems that can alert team members or associates that there is a danger  Carry identification showing your blood type and any special medical conditions.

10. BE PREPARED FOR UNEXPECTED EVENTS  Keep your personal affairs in good order.  Do not carry sensitive or potentially embarrassing items

11. TRAVEL SECURITY TIPS  Statistics indicate that acts of violence are most often perpetrated against victims during periods of movement.  The following tips are provide to decrease your vulnerability during travel.

12. TRAVEL SECURITY TIPS  The use of these security measures should be tempered by the nature or purpose of travel,  the time and fiscal resources available, as well as the means and circumstances under which travel is made.

13. TRAVEL SECURITY TIPS  Do not assume that acts of violence "can't happen to me.“  Control distribution of itinerary and restrict detailed itinerary information  Remove all decals and insignia from your luggage, jackets, vehicles, etc.

18. Explanation of the Force Protection Conditions (FPCON)  FPCON system is mandated by DOD directive. It describes progressive levels of security measures in response to Force Protections to Army personnel and facilities.

19. 5 Force Protection Conditions  FPCON NORMAL  FPCON ALPHA  FPCON BRAVO  FPCON CHARLIE  FPCON DELTA

20. FPCON NORMAL Local security measures designed for implementation when there is no credible threat of terrorist activity. Under these conditions, only a routine security posture designed to defeat the routine criminal threat is warranted.

21. FPCON ALPHA This applies when there is a general threat activity against personnel and/or installations, the nature and extent of which is unpredictable, and circumstances do not justify full implementation of FPCON BRAVO.

22. What to do at ALPHA  At regular intervals, personnel will be advised to report the following to appropriate law enforcement or security agencies:  Suspicious personnel, particularly those carrying suitcases or other containers, or those observing, photographing or asking questions about operations or security measures, suspicious personnel and/or activities should be reported to the police.  Unidentified vehicles parked or operated in a suspicious manner or in the vicinity of Operation.  Abandoned parcels or suitcases;  Any other activity considered suspicious.

23. FPCON BRAVO This applies when an increased or more predictable threat exists. In addition to the measures required by FPCON ALPHA, the following measures will be implemented:

What to do at BRAVO  Increase the frequency of warnings as previously required under FPCON ALPHA, and inform personnel of additional threat information as appropriate  Inform soldiers, civilian employees and family members of the general threat situation to stop rumors and prevent unnecessary alarm  Move automobiles and objects such as trash containers and crates a safe distance from potential targets  Verify the identity of all personnel entering the installation by inspecting ID cards or grant access based on visual recognition  Increase the frequency of random identity checks (inspection of ID cards, security badges and vehicle registration documents).

25. FPCON CHARLIE Applies when an incident occurs or intelligence indicates some form of threat against personnel and/or facilities is imminent. Implementation of FPCON CHARLIE measures, for more than a short period, will probably create hardships for personnel and affect the peacetime activities of units and personnel.

26. What to do at CHARLIE  Continue all FPCON ALPHA and BRAVO measures  Verify the identity of all personnel entering the Operations Center.  Visually inspect the interior of all vehicles and exterior of all suitcases, briefcases and other containers.  Reduce Operations Center access points to the absolute minimum necessary for continued operation;  Erect barriers required to control the direction of traffic flow.

27. FPCON DELTA Implementation applies in immediate area where a threat attack has occurred or when intelligence indicates terrorist action in a specific location is likely. Implementation of FPCON DELTA normally occurs for only limited periods of time over specified, localized areas.

28. What to do at DELTA  Continue all FPCON ALPHA, BRAVO and CHARLIE  Inspect all vehicles  Limit access to those personnel with a legitimate and verifiable need to enter  Inspect all baggage (suitcases, packages, and briefcases) brought on the Operations Center for presence of explosives or incendiary devices, or other dangerous items  Cancel or delay all administrative movement that is not mission essential.
