3 Quick Write - The Interview Process  Who are you thinking about interviewing and why?  Provide a brief summary of his/her connection to the story.  What barriers (if any) do you anticipate facing in the interview process?  Overall, what do you hope to get out of the interview?

4 Checkpoints 1. Story Starter – due now. 2. 10 Interview questions w/ summary person you will be interviewing – due next week. 3. Formal, transcribed interview – due 1 st day back from the holiday break. 4. Narrative Storyboard – due 2 nd week of Jan. 5. First draft of non-fiction narrative – due 2 nd week of Jan. 6. Second draft of non-fiction narrative – due 3 rd week of Jan. 7. FINAL copy of non-fiction narrative – due 4 th week of Jan.

6 Discussion Meetings Fill the following meeting time slots with individuals from our class.  Noon:  3pm:  6pm:  9pm:

7 Discussion Questions 1. What important decision do you think the two characters are discussing? 2. What is the man’s perspective on the choice – what does it mean to him? How does the woman react to the man’s attitude? 3. Examine the symbolic significance of the hills. 4. Based on the relationship of these two characters, and the important decision they are discussing, what do you predict will happen for these two individuals?

8 Hills Like White Elephants - Assignment  Examine the effectiveness of Hemmingway’s choice of point of view in the short story, Hills Like White Elephants.  You may create any of the following to show your understanding:  Paragraph  One-Pager  Presentation (PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Presentation)  Skit  Video
