9
CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS Mandatory electronic submission is now required by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) Electronic recommendations will not begin until after grades are posted – January 12, 2007
10
CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 1st step Complete and submit the credential application and recommendation fee by the priority deadline date. 2 nd step Your file is reviewed to make sure all requirements have been met. After final grades are posted in late December or early January, and we verify that you have successfully completed all Fall semester coursework, CSUSM recommends you for a credential via the web. We anticipate the recommendation process will be complete by the end of January for those students who have met all requirements and submitted applications by the priority deadline date. All other applications will be processed on a date-order basis.
11
CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 3rd step CCTC will email you a notification of recommendation for your credential. This notification will provide a link that instructs you to complete your credential application process. You will also pay fees. Payment by MasterCard, VISA, debit/credit card, or a one-time credit card (available at most grocery stores) is the only option for payment of the on-line recommendation. The fee is $57.00 or $29.50 with credit for a Certificate of Clearance.
12
CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 3rd step - continued CCTC notifies the student and CSUSM via email that all fees have been paid and student will be issued a credential. Within ten to fifteen (10 – 15) working days, CCTC issues notification of credential issuance via email. This email serves as your verification (C-19) letter.
13
CREDENTIAL APPLICATION PROCESS 4th step Credential is issued by CCTC. You may verify issuance of your credential at: https://teachercred.ctc.ca.gov/teachers/index.jsp or go to: www.ctc.ca.gov/ and click on “Lookup a Credential” located in the menu on the left-hand side of the screen. https://teachercred.ctc.ca.gov/teachers/index.jspwww.ctc.ca.gov/ NOTE: It is important to notify CCTC, CSUSM Enrollment Services and COE Student Services Center of a change in mailing or email address, especially if there is a change before you receive your credential.

ADVISORY As a result of the federal “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) requirements, elementary teacher credential candidates admitted to a program after July 1, 2004 will be required to pass the CSET Multiple Subject Examination prior to enrollment in advanced student teaching and prior to obtaining a multiple subject credential in California.
17
MSAT Scores are valid for 5 years. The last valid MSAT exam date is January 11, 2003.
18
Because of NCLB teacher employment requirements for school districts, it is essential for ALL multiple subject teaching candidates to pass the CSET in order to be viable candidates for public school teaching positions. All candidates are advised to take and pass the CSET, even if their timeline for credential completion does not require it for issuance of the credential.
