Grading Your grade will be based on five components: 1) Tests 2) Quizzes 3) Homework 4) Participation 5) Extra Credit
5
TESTS Each test will be approximately 100 points. There will be at least 2 weeks notice for each test.
6
Quizzes There will be one to three quizzes per week. These quizzes may or may not be announced. They may cover any material covered up to that point (average 10 to 15 points each).
7
Homework This includes in class work and out of class work. Some days you may complete the work in class and others you will need to take it home. Some days you will have both (10 points each).
8
Participation Participation includes coming to class on time, bringing the materials you need, participation in the class discussion, behaving in an appropriate manner, not sleeping, and doing your work when given time in class. Failure to follow any of these guidelines can result in the loss of some or all of your points for that day (5 points per day).
9
Extra Credit From time to time there will be opportunities for extra credit. These are done at my discretion. I will not give extra credit assignments for an individual so he or she can catch up.

Rules 1) I am obligated to follow the rules set aside in the student handbook under "Student Code of Conduct." Therefore you are to follow the same rules in my class. 2) You are expected to act in a manner appropriate to a high school student. No wandering around the room, fighting, throwing things, etc. If in doubt of whether something is acceptable or not, ask me first.
13
Rules continued 3) There will be no food allowed in the classroom. Drinks will be permitted only if they have a tight lid. 4) No pagers, cell phones, CD players, etc, are allowed in class. If I see or hear them, they will be confiscated and given to your administrator. 5) You are expected to come to class prepared each day. This includes pen or pencil, paper, book, notebook, calculator, etc.
14
Rules continued 6) You are expected to be on time to class. On time means through the door before the bell rings. Any more than 1 tardy in a semester will result in after school detentions. Each detention will be longer than the previous one. If you cannot serve a detention after school, don’t be late. 7) If you are unhappy with a situation in my class, you are welcome to talk to me about it, outside of class. During class, what I say goes. No exceptions.
15
Rules continued 8) You are required to attend each and every class. Since math builds on previous knowledge, it is hard to miss a day and stay caught up. You are allowed to miss 5 days per semester. More than that will result in a failing status. (Student Hand book). 9) Make up work is your responsibility. If you miss a day you must come to me for the work or tests to make up. All makeup work must be done in a timely fashion (you are allowed one class day for each day you are gone).
16
Rules continued 10) Late work will be accepted until the chapter test is taken. You will lose one point for each day the assignment is late. The first day late starts immediately after class is over. 11) Absolutely no sleeping in class. This includes closing your eyes, laying your head on the desk, or anything that can be associated with sleeping. If you can’t stay awake in my class, find another place to be.
17
Rules continued 12) Please clean up around your desk before you leave class. No lining up at the door. Remain in your seat until the bell rings. 13) Passes out of class are given at my discretion only. You are given plenty of time between classes to use the restrooms. Administrators and counselors can be seen before or after school if necessary (e-mail requests to see counselor/administrator). Dead time will be enforced.
18
Rules continued 14) Permission slips are signed at my discretion only 15) Violating any of these rules will result in a detention or referral to your administrator.

Computers Computers are for educational use only. The computers should only be used during designated times. Any misuse or vandalism of technology equipment will result in disciplinary actions as per the “Student Code of Conduct.”
