Evolution of Transportation
2
The change in boats Easier - A boat is a small vehicle for travelling on water. A boat can have oars, paddles, sails, or a motor to make it move. A ship is a large boat that can travel across deep water, such as a sea or ocean. A ship is built to carry people or goods for a long distance. The difference between a ship and a boat is size. Large oceangoing vessels are called ships; while all other craft are called boats. Various types of boats include canoes, rowboats, sailboats, and motorboats. Ships are one of the oldest and most important means of transportation. For hundreds of years, people have sailed the seas to explore, to settle, to trade, and sometimes to conquer. Today, trade among countries still depends heavily on ships. Ships sail along seacoasts, cross the oceans, and travel on inland waterways. Many different types of ships are used including giant tankers that haul petroleum and other liquids; refrigerated ships carrying fresh fruits, meats, and vegetables; dry bulk carriers hauling grain, ore, and sand; cargo ships transporting manufactured goods; and passenger liners carrying travelers.

change of Wagons Wagons are a vehicle previously used in olden day time. Usually pulled by a horse oxes or donkeys Usually on two or four wheels Very light carts and wagons can also be pulled by donkeys instead Other smaller animals are occasionally used, such as large dogs, llamas and goats Wagons are made to carry people and supplies to and form a place. the means of transcontinental transportation used for two centuries of American history. The covered wagon was fundamentally a wagon box with a framework of hoop-shaped slats over which a canvas tent was stretched to make a "covered" wagon. Each wagon was drawn by several teams of horses, mules, or oxen. Many were boat shaped with oarlocks so they might be floated over streams, the animals swimming across. The first large wagon train of pioneers bound for Oregon was in 1843.The last wagon trains came in the 1880's, when other methods of transportation (such as railroads) were developed in the West. Oxen were used because they could pull heavy loads. Oxen could survive on eating the grass along the way. Oxen didn't cost as much as mules Buffalo chips were the hardened manure droppings of the buffaloes that the pioneers used for fuel. On some wagon trains an older person would go over lessons with the children when they stopped for lunch or dinner. On other wagon trains, children would study with their parents or older brothers or sisters. For most children, there was no school while travelling with the wagon train Some wagon trains were led by a trail guide that was hired to show the way. Often these guides had been fur trappers and traders for many years and had traveled the Oregon Trail many times. In some wagon trains, all the members voted to have one person be the captain or leader.

Change of cars Cars are run by a motor engine Cars are on four wheels There are countless models and all sorts of kinds of cars like vans, SUVs' racing cars and heaps of others. Cars typically have seating for up to eight people and usually have four wheels. Over one billion vehicles are used around the world right now. The number of cars is rapidly increasing in china and india Cars have replaced trains allowing people to travel right up to certain places. Cars allow space for luggage and space for extra passengers. Cars are good for families. A car is pretty much based upon the design of a wagon. A man named Ferdinand Verbose is credited with inventing the first car 1672

Change of trains Trains are vehicles that transport lots of people to there location In the olden days there were steam trains that ran off of coal Modern rail transport system were first in England in the early 1820’s Rail transport dates back 500 years into systems involving man or horse power and railway systems. Many countries now use a system of trains that travel at a speed of over 300kmp/h Statistically trains are the safest way for people to travel in New Zealand and throughout the world. The railway is also a safe way to transport goods around the country. Trains can however pose significant safety risks if people do not follow the warning signs and give way to trains at all times. In New Zealand trains are used to transport both freight and people over long and short distances Trains can travel at any time of the day or night. Even if you think you know the train timetable in your area, these timetables can change and you may not necessarily be aware of the change. Expect a train at any time and always check the railway line is clear of trains before crossing Trains can travel up to 100kms an hour. It is difficult for people to judge the speed of an approaching train and research has proven that you are more than likely to misjudge the speed of an approaching train. If you can see a train approaching, you should wait for it to pass, no matter how far away you think it is A fully laden freight train is extremely heavy and can weigh up to a thousand tonne Because trains are heavy and fast – they also cannot stop in a hurry. In fact a fully laden freight train can take up to a kilometre to stop. Similarly, a train is guided by the rails on which it travels, and cannot swerve to miss an object that may be on the tracks. This is why a motor vehicle must always give way to a train or other railway vehicle. This video of a staged collision shows the time it takes for a train to stop after hitting a vehicle trains and railroads have a major impact on the economy in both America and Europe. in America most railways are used for transportation while in Europe most passenger trains are used Examples of how trains and railroads were helpful to the economy include the fact that they were a cheaper mode of transportation of good across the nation. They also made for faster transportation of good

conclusion I have come the conclusion that change is good because it mean that transport can evolve and the technology can improve over time. Newer technology is improving our lives by making transport easier to access. Transport has become faster and there are more advantages to travelling in a car eg: a radio or air conditioning. There are still horse drawn carts but they are used for rides around the town or for amusement. But, cars are the newest transport and are considered to be the best mode of transport.
