Title I Part A is a part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). This act provides federal funds through the Georgia Department of Education to local educational agencies and public schools with high numbers or percentages of students from low income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards.
5
Funds are provided to schools based on the number of students qualifying for the free/reduced price lunch program.
6
Funds are used to provide students additional segments of reading and/or math instruction by a certified, highly qualified teacher and/or paraprofessional, support materials in reading and/or math, transportation home from after school programs and transportation during summer school. Funds are also used to promote parental involvement through an active parent involvement program.
7
Chestatee Elementary is now Schoolwide Title I. We have reached this status through our Free and Reduced Lunch population reaching 49%. Students are still identified and served by a multiple criteria survey. The most academically challenged students receive services in additional small groups. Support teachers are pushing in to classes as much as possible. Teachers pull out of the classroom only when scheduling is an issue.
8
Chestatee is a Title I School. In a Title I Priority School overall achievement is low. In a Title I Alert School there is a large gap between the lowest and highest achieving students. In a Title I Reward School the school is in: Highest Performing 5% of Title I schools or, the highest Progressing 10% of Title I schools.
