A day to celebrate languages and language learning.

The European Day of Languages is a yearly event held on September 26. In 2001, September 26 was proclaimed European Day of Languages by the Council of Europe, with the support of the European Union. The European Day of Languages not only celebrates languages spoken around the world but it also stresses the importance of language learning, encourages lifelong language learning, and promotes the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.

On Thursday 24th of September students from 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th class went to Ivan Cankar Primary School. We participated in some workshops where we learned Spanish and Dutch. In the beginning we were divided into two groups. One group was taught Spanish and the other one was taught Dutch. We were all excited because we have learned a lot of new words and a lot of new interesting things. The experience was incredible! Blažka Križnik, 7.a

I was in a group with my best friend Tadej. We were learning Spanish. It was fun. I learned how to introduce myself in Spanish, count to 10 and name some colours. This is what I have learned: BLANKO – white AZUL – blue MORADO – purple FRESA – strawberry PLÁTANO – banana Matevž Košak, 6. b Oh yes, and the numbers: 1 - uno 2 - dos 3 - tres 4 - cuatro 5 - cinco 6 - seis 7 - siete 8 - ocho 9 - nueve 10 - diez Mi nombre es Matevž.
