5 5 Meaning of Port LED STAT OffNo link present. Solid GreenLink present, but no activity. Flashing GreenLink present with traffic activity. Alternating Green-Orange Link fault, error frames. Solid OrangePort is not forwarding.

6 6 Meaning of Port LED Colors Duplex Off Port is operating in half-duplex mode. GreenPort is operating in full-duplex mode. Speed OffPort is operating at 10 Mbps. GreenPort is operating at 100 Mbps. Flashing green Port is operating at 1000 Mbps.

7 7 Switch Configuration A new switch will have a preset configuration with factory defaults. Following settings are available to configure for a switch: – IP address (for multi-layer switch) – Interface speed – Duplex operation – MAC address table

8 8 Console Connection A Console Connection is a connection from your computer to the Console Port of a Cisco switch or router. Cisco routers and switches are managed by using a local console connection or a remote connection to view and make changes to the configuration. Nearly all Cisco devices have a serial console port to which you can connect.
