AIE Residency Grants Professional artists Supplements school’s arts ed program AIE Level 1 and AIE Level 2 Review General Grant Information before applying

AIE Level 2 Competitive Standards-based, 10 days+ Don’t have to be consecutive In-depth Professional collaboration Meets school needs Hands-on, participatory

Intent of Funds Deepen engagement and learning in the arts Expand teacher practice Sustainable change Professional collaborations to build curricula, deliver instruction and learn from each other.

Allowable Expenses Professional artist fees, contractor fees, artist/contractor travel, residency supplies, marketing, etc. NO fees for student artists/ensembles. Administrative expenses: up to 25% of requested funds.

Match and Range 1-to1 except for Tier 1 (rural, low wealth) counties Tier 1: make strong case for financial need in narrative. $5,000 to $15,000.

Profile Prep What You’ll Need Before (and Who to Get it From): –School’s FEIN/TAX ID number (finance/budget officer) – Date the organization was formed (day, month, year) –School’s end of fiscal year. Typically June 30 (finance/budget officer)

Profile Prep – Cont. –School’s mission statement –School’s history - brief (when started, where, how, when it became an A+ School, details to present). –School system’s DUNS number - unique 9-digit identifier (central office. If they don’t have one, get it here: www.artsusa.org).www.artsusa.org –Not sure if your system has a DUNS number? Contact Tanya.

Creating Your Profile Choose “Organization” (not Individual) Primary Contact Information: person who can enter into contracts on behalf of the school (principal, assistant principal, finance officer) *Project Contact later Copy username and password and keep in safe place!

Applicant Information: Your school – Organization Type: (elementary, middle, high) – Applicant status: “Government County” if public, “Government State” for charters – Applicant Discipline: “Multidisciplinary” – Grantee race: “No single group” Click “Submit.” You’re done! Back to sign in page.

AGO - Project Contact Person responsible for project Skip Fiscal Agent Copy/paste mission and history from profile “Save Work”: If not, changes will be lost. You can come back to it later “Did I Complete this Page?”: Will show required fields you didn’t complete.

Personnel + Audiences Salaried staff: paid, dedicated arts staff in your school (arts educators and coordinators) Contract Personnel: artists on long-term contracts (not residencies). Audience: all students and adults attending arts programs through the year Audience percentages: school or county demographics. Must add to 100%.

Project Info + Narrative Write in word and copy to AGO. # 1: Clear/concise overview of project (what will happen, who will be involved) #2: Brief description of planning process (people, dates, locations, purpose) #3: Description artist(s) and contractor(s) - credentials, experience with target population, fees, and racial/cultural composition.

Project Info + Narrative #4: Describe participants (age/grade level, #, racial/cultural composition). #5: Identify 2-3 participant goals (1+ =Arts Ed Essential Standards). Explain how goals will impact participants. #6: Detailed description & timeline for all project activities (sessions number + length, participants’ grade level/age). Explain how activities support goals in #5. Upload!

Project Info + Narrative #7: Strategies/methods to assess student learning and evaluate residency and how these strategies support goals in #5. Attach Itemized Budget Project Title: Name of residency, artist, school, grade levels, dates (if you have them). Project Activity: 20 School Residency

Budget Expenses Grant Amount: Request from us – Artistic fees, residency supplies, marketing, contractual fees, artist/contractor travel and other project-related expenses. Applicant Cash Match: Your contribution – Must equal or exceed grant request (unless Tier 1) – Can include teachers/administrators’ time to coordinate/document/market/evaluate project, space, materials, volunteers’ time.
