1. “What’s the use of stories that aren’t even true?” This question is at the heart of Haroun and the Sea of Stories. Explain the purpose of stories that aren’t even true, supporting your argument with details from the novel. 2. Haroun and the Sea of Stories is a bildungsroman – a coming-of- age story. Discuss the ways in which Haroun grows up, or comes of age, throughout the story. Be sure to support your argument by citing specific moments and details that illustrate Haroun’s development. 3. EXTRA CHALLENGE PROMPT – Haroun and the Sea of Stories is a novel that displays 3 layers, or “worlds”. Show how these layers or “worlds” are connected, how they teach the same lesson and reach the same goal. (Suggestion - Each body paragraph should be focused on one layer or “world.”) BONUS - +10 points
