What your child will be graded on: Quizzes ( at least biweekly ) – usually will cover vocabulary. Tests ( at the end of almost every chapter ) will cover everything learned in class and at home. Many questions will require critical thinking. A student will be required to have sufficient knowledge of the topic and have a great control of the vocabulary covered in order to do well in critical thinking area. Scientific Articles ( 1-2 every marking period) – students will be assigned to do an analysis of a scientific article. Questions to be answered in the analysis are posted on my website.
4
Projects ( at least one per marking period) – will represent a culminating task for the unit. Will involve doing research and presenting it. Rubrics will be provided. Classwork – occasionally work done in class will be collected and graded. Homework – is posted on my website. Late homework will only be accepted if you send a note explaining the reason for the lateness. I will consider it once per marking period. I will try to avoid assigning HW for the weekends and will not assign any for the vacation breaks.

If you like how I do my job, please let my principal know. If you’re not happy about something please let me know first. It can be just a case of misunderstanding. Always remember : we have common goals – your child’s success ( that’s how we are evaluated!). It takes a lot of work and patience to teach 160 kids every day. All I am asking in return is for you to put your trust in my skills as an educator.
