5 Galileo Research and Development Activities 2 nd Call Anticipation of 20M€ in 2003 budget (from 2005). New budget allocation plan proposed: 1st Call 2003: 20M€ 2nd Call 2004: 70M€(20+50) 3rd Call 2005: 10M€

6 Galileo Research and Development Activities 2nd Call Rationale for Anticipation Typical project duration: 12-18 months Majority of R&D activities to be launched before the end of 2004: critical results for the end of the Galileo Development and Validation phase. New inputs related to Galileo Program evolution (rapid market take up of satellite navigation, international context, promotion of innovative ideas from SME’s, etc.) In line with the initial EC budget planning
