State Aid » Projects must be collaborations between industry and academic partners » Industry partner submits application form and finance spreadsheets » General R&D – up to 75% public funding allowed » “Close to market” development – maybe only 30% allowed › Someone has to evaluate this.... » External assessors judge state aid issues › Finance proportions OK, sufficient innovation... » Janet panel meets › If budget exists, proceed to connection 09/09/15 TF-MSP Meeting: 09/09/15. State Aid example » Janet connection values › Market rate – no distortion › 1Gb/s - £50-70k › 10Gb/s - £250-300k » Example at 10Gbit/s – very R&D oriented proposal › Janet connection @ £300k › Industry contributes £150k › Total value = £450k › Level of assistance = 300/450 or 67% - OK ! 09/09/15 TF-MSP Meeting: 09/09/15. Janet Eligibility Policy » [8.2] Organisations (including commercial) conducting R&D which require access to Janet for their collaborations with education/research › Rolls-Royce collaboration with Loughborough University › Cost of connection met by Reach programme budget » [11] Partner Organisations: “Business and Community Engagement” › "Any Eligible Organisation may grant access to the Janet IP Service to another organisation (a “Partner Organisation”) appropriate to its missions.” › The Partner Organisation *only* gets Janet IP, not any other Jisc services, and the Eligible Organisation is wholly responsible for supporting them and ensuring compliance with the other Janet policies and the law › Cost of connection met by Partner and/or Eligible Organisation 09/09/15 TF-MSP Meeting: 09/09/15.
