9. “ FCS Program Summary ” Major Priority Areas Family Nutrition Program Target Audience(s): Students and parents of “free and reduced lunch schools”, expectant parents, senior citizens Long Range Goals: Improve skills in selections of healthy foods. Adopt healthful eating and lifestyle behaviors. Adopt skills in resource management for stretching foods resources. Improve skills in preparation of nutritious, economical foods. Change eating habits to include a healthy diet and a decrease in high calorie foods. Outcome Indicators: Participants will: Choose foods around the FGP, adjust menus/recipes to achieve more fiber, less fat, less sugar, or less salt in the diet. Report eating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grain products. Report consuming low-fat or fat free milk more often. Keep food at safe temperatures.
