It all depend on where it is and who is running and funding the orphanage. I will focus on two kinds that were in my book which took place in Kenya, Africa. The two in my book were very different. One was a Christian home the other ran by a woman out of her own desire and will.

The funding came from the States from ton of fundraisers and charities It is run by different couples that volunteers for an x amount of years. At these home children are put into groups called “families” were an older orphan boy is put in charge of so many younger children to care and see to. Each child is prepared to start jobs at 18 and are taught the love of God.

Funding is obtained any way possible. In my book the lone woman spent endless hours on the phones asking for funding from charities and large businesses world wide. The children walk some times walk miles to go to a local school in the scorching heat of the African sun. Washing of clothing is a luxury and the children drag their bedding outside so the hot sun will kill germs and most of all the bug that love to share a bed with them.

Every 15 second another child in Africa be comes an AIDS orphan. Every day 5,760 more children become orphans. Every year 2,102,400 more children become orphans in Africa alone. Every year 14,050,ooo children age out of the orphanges Every day 38,493 children age out Every 2.2seconds another child ages out with no where to go to, no family, and no where to call home.

10-15% of the orphans commit suicide before age 18. 60% of the girls are lured into prostitution. 70% of the boys become hardened criminals. Many accept jobs that end in slavery and being sex slaves just because they were unfortunate enough to grow up as orphans.

SADLY.  :’(
