Design Idea 01 Temple Architecture South India
South Indian temples have a very strong architectural style that has its roots within many forms of Science, Mathematics, Religion and Every day life. They form an integral part of everyday life and this reflects in its architecture

Temple Architecture South India
The representation of life along the outer circumference (pradakshinapatha or "circumambulation path" ) is a very interesting element of the Temple. This path follows the sculptural clockwise-sequenced reliefs on the outer temple walls depicting a sequence of epic scenes from the Hindu epics along with panels depicting everyday life at the lower levels. This forms a sort of a basis to a narrative, architecturally devised to involve visitors to the temple. This is the inspirational form we are exploring.

Our interpretation The vertically stacked stories can be looked at as a sequence . Elephants at the bottom hold up the foundations of life, followed by Horsemen, and Drummers and Dancers celebrating life. The structural semblance of this stacking to that of the French plates form an interesting opportunity to present stories or the idea of conversations on the everyday. These stories are a playful celebration of life.

Concept Each plate has an illustrative element to it. They are complete by themselves and work to fit in a larger whole, a more grander idea of interconnectedness of Life.

Concept The illustrated bands run along the edge of the plates and recreate the assembly that they are inspired from, the Temple. Interesting relationships form as one builds connections and meanings over dinner and conversation.

Design Idea 02 Mandala Cotemporary interpretation Mandala (Sanskrit maṇḍala मंडलः "circle", "completion") is a term used to refer to various objects. It is of Hindu origin, but is also used in other Indian religions, such as Buddhism. In practice, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective.

The Idea To Integrate Cricket, the most important Indian Sport to the notion of the Mandala. The game occupies an active part of Indian psyche, it is comparable to Football in France. The sport exhibits a sense of celebration that cannot be paralleled in the Indian Subcontinent.

Our interpretation The Mandala is a representation of the arrangement of the players within the idea of the game. Each concentric circle groups together an aspect of the sport. This idea lends itself to the stackable nature of the plates as well.
