1
ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION A type of cellular respiration
2
ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION Form of respiration that does not use oxygen. Less efficient than aerobic respiration
3
OVERVIEW Does not use O 2 Produces 2 ATP molecules Occurs in yeast, bacteria, and muscles
4
ALCOHOLIC FERMENTATION Produces alcohol (ethanol) Used mainly by prokaryotes (no nucleus) that live in environments that lack oxygen
5
LACTIC ACID FERMENTATION Muscles do not contract easily, produces lactic acid. Done when your circulatory system cannot keep up with the amount of oxygen your muscles are using.
6
2 TYPES OF ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION
7
EXPLAIN IN 2-3 SENTENCES HOW AEROBIC AND ANAEROBIC RESPIRATION ARE DIFFERENT.
