Morning Meeting GOAL- Helps to create a sense of belonging and the skills of attention, listening, expression, and cooperative interaction 4 Components: Greeting, Share, Activity and Message

Greeting: Children greet each other by name, often including a handshaking, clapping, or singing Share- Children share some news of interest to the class and respond to each other, articulating their thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a positive manner Activity- The whole class does a short activity together, building class community through active participation Message- Children practice academic skills and warm up for the day ahead by reading a discussing a daily message posted for them

Word Study Our Core spelling words focus on a relationship (meaning, spelling pattern, or common sound) Homework-Please follow the schedule below: Monday-cut/sort/write Tuesday-Listening sort Wednesday-3x each Thursday-Pretest Later in the year students will be offered a contract with choices

Lunch and Snack Send in a healthy snack each day for our morning break If your child is buying lunch, please have money in a zip-lock bag or envelope with your child’s name on it Weekly tickets may be purchased

General Information Please send in a note when returning from an absence Dress appropriately for the weather: children will be going outside, weather permitting Please leave at home all toys, jewelry, or things that are distracting to children Any changes in transportation require a signed note from the parent/guardian
