2.  It was founded in 1624 by Peter Minuit.  It’s nickname is The Empire State.  Its most famous recipe is New York Cheesecake  It became a state on July 26, 1788

3. New York got its name from The Duke York. He came from England. The Dutch West India Company owned New York, but before the duke of York called it New York, the Dutch called it New Netherland.

4. One of the major industries was logging. Logging was very popular in new York. Another major industry was iron works. Iron was a big thing. In the 1890’s the British came and made ships. It was important that the British made ships to sail over the high seas. They came to NY because of their natural resources. Granite was a big thing. Fur trade was also big. They would trade with the Native Americans for beads and other materials.

5. Some natural resources are forest soil, granite, rocks, minerals, lakes and streams, freshwater wetlands, timber, and natural ocean bays. The freshwater wetlands where their main source of water. The granite was used for a lot of their furniture. They used forest soil to plant crops. The soil was rich in nutrients.

The population in 1775 is 260,000 people That is not a lot compared to New York now. The date Of statehood for the New York colony is July 26 1788. The date founded is 1626 or 1624.
