1 4 th Grade Science 4.3.7 Spenser Young Explain that smaller rocks come from the breakage and weathering of bedrock and larger rocks and that soil is made partly from weathered rock, partly from plant remains, and also contains many living organisms. (Core Standard)

2 Where did all of these small rocks come from?

3 EVERYWHERE! Rocks are hardened minerals from the earth that become broken up and weatherized over time and can turn into all sizes once broken and grinded down!

4 Rocks IN Dirt Overtime rocks will continue to break and grind into smaller rocks and become mixed with soil

5 But Wait….What is dirt? What can we say that soil is made/composed of? (Predictions):

7 YOU can MAKE Soil (Compost) ! Gather all your organic scraps and allow them to breakdown over a course of time (2weeks minimum)… …& then you get…
