Goal: Bring together organizations and people from across NC who are committed to: ►reducing breast cancer disparities ►building capacity of LHA groups Conference Participants: ►Health Care Providers, Advocates, Survivors, Co-Survivors, Interested Community Leaders Number of attendees: 130 Conference Evaluation ►90% rated the conference as excellent ►105 evaluations received (80% response rate) Save Our Sisters Conference

Edgecombe County Breast cancer mortality rate is 36.7 compared to 25.7, statewide (per 100,000, 2002-2006) ►Minority - 38.5 ►White - 34.9 16 th highest rate in the U.S. (Susan G. Komen) Breast Cancer Taskforce established in 2007, in response to the Komen Report with committees focused on: ►Transportation ►Education ►Mass communication ►Funding ►Research-based “Best Practice” Access? Treatment disparities?

SUCCEEDing Means Reaching Beyond Guilford and Edgecombe ►Community Action planning ►Building capacity and a funding base to support effective outreach and education programs ►Increasing access to screening services and timely treatment
