3 Costs of Operation Q: Does your Department or University help to supplement the cost of field instruction? –If so, how is this done? Q: Resident vs non-resident tuition? Q: How does your school deal with long-term costs of operation? Q: Are student scholarships available from Department or College/University funds?

4 Sustaining a Program Q: How supportive are your department faculty and chair – intellectually (participating in the program) or financially (by providing department funds)? How do you gain or sustain this support? Q: How supportive is your Dean – intellectually (recognizing the instructional importance of the program) or financially. How do you gain or sustain this support?

5 Sustaining a Program Q: How supportive are your alumni – through financial contributions (e.g. scholarship funds) or politically (through department or dean’s level contacts)? Have you considered requesting their support? Q: Are you aware of research on the importance of field instruction that you can use to influence your Department or Dean? (e.g. GSA Special Paper 461; Whitmeyer & Mogk, 2009 – and cited references)

6 Safety and Liability in the Field Q: Are you aware of your school’s policies on field trips? Schools will claim that it is your responsibility to know these policies. Q: Does your school have an ADA policy for field trips? Q: Do you provide students with any general safety guidelines for their field instructional experiences?
