Asexual Reproduction By: Mai Phung- 7E
2
What is Asexual Reproduction? Asexual reproduction is a mode of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single parent, and inherit the genes of that parents.
3
Examples: Budding in Hydra Budding in Yeast Spore formation in bread mould Binary fission in bacteria
4
Sexual Reproduction in Plants Plants can be Unisexual or Bisexual.
7
How do they asexually reproduce? Pollen is produced by the male part of the plant. Some plants are able to pollinate other flowers on the same plant. Other plants rely on cross-pollination as a means to reproduce. When the pollen is pushed through the top of stigma the wind carries it to other plants. Birds and insects that land on the flowers also carry the pollen to other plants, causing the plant to become fertilized when they land. When the pollen has been fertilized, the ovaries within the plant become seeds, which are released once the flower petals fall off. Many times, birds and small animals ingest these seeds, and then they are passed through the animal's droppings, which return to the soil in different areas.
8
Seed Dispersal
9
What is seed dispersal? Seed dispersal is the movement or transport of seed away from its parents’ plant.
10
Types of dispersals Gravity Wind Water Ballistic Dispersals by animals or humans
