5 Logging in from Off-Campus When logging in from off-campus, you will need a username and password. Username: Last name Password: 1 st 4 of your last name, 1 st four of your first name, last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.

6 Off-Campus and Wireless Log In So, if your name is Soft Kitty and your social security number is 123456789, your login will be: Username:Kitty Password:kittsoft6789

11 Books The first books on the list will be those in the Kilgore College Library collection. Other items are available from libraries across the US. If you need something we do not have, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Interlibrary Loan takes time, so don’t wait until the last minute!

Use APA style to format your citations. – APA is short for Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association – APA is often used for research in the sciences – See the APA tab in The Little, Brown Compact Handbook

26 Why Use a Database? Anyone can create an internet site. – It can be true. – It can be fake. You have to verify internet information. – Who is the author? – Does the site want to provide information, or sell something? – When was it last updated?

27 Databases Provide thousands of articles from journals, newspapers, or books. The information is more accurate. Many articles are peer-reviewed. Your instructor prefers database articles to internet sites.

58 Select a tab If you are using a book source, click the tab for Book. If you are using a database, click the tab for Databases. – Use the drop down box to select the type of database. – In most instances, this will be Article published by database (pick this if unsure)

62 Add Citations If you create several citations at a time, EasyBib will alphabetize them as you go. Then, you can copy and paste them to your Resources page.

63 More about Citations Since you are using APA, your paper will contain in-text citations. You will list the bibliographies for the sources you used on a separate sheet of paper titled Resources.

64 Citations Each time you use someone else’s words or ideas, you must provide a citation to give credit to that person. As you type your paper, you will use an in-text citation, using the last name of the author of the article, and the page number, if given, in parentheses. Ex. (Logan 214) For each citation, you will provide a corresponding bibliography.
