Parts of the Leaves Petiole - a thin stalk that connects the blade of the leaf to the plant's stem. Blade - a thin, flat part of the leaf that extends off the end of the petiole. Veins - contain vascular tissue and transport food, water, and minerals Lobe - rounded or pointed section of a leaf Margin – the border or edge of a leaf; there are many different types Base – the bottom part of the leaf Leaflet – one of the small leaves on a compound leaf
