2  Debuted on August 30, 1995  CNN Pipeline - paid subscription service for video streaming from 4 sources - Replaced in 2007  In 2006, CNN Exchange and iReport - brought together impact of all things journalism  CNN International debuted in 2008  2009 - Newest version with "sign up" option to create own username  CNN has their own YouTube channel & Twitter  Ranked third place among online global news sites - increase of 11% from 2008-2009

3 USERS  Age Range: 53% are 25- 54; 52% are 18-49  Median Age: 47  Household Income: $150K  Median Household Income: $77,857  C-level executives  Business Decision-Makers  Active and Tech-Savvy  Own their home  Own a personal computer and can access the internet  Have 4+ years of college  Financially savvy and curious about the world NON-USERS  Children, teens, and young adults  People with less than a college education  Don’t own a personal computer  Household income less than $50,000  Living in rural areas  Hold blue-collar jobs  Not interested in recent events and news  Not text savvy  Like the feel of an actual newspaper to get news

4 Major features of the website  A few select large photos are main focus.  Right hand side: breaking international news, and latest US news are links that lead to the actual article  Featured videos  12 Main categories such as U.S., World, Business, and Politics that make it easier to search for specific types of articles.  12 tabs with these categories at the top of the site also.  The “search” bar in the top right corner. Allows for specific searches.  Advertisements along right side of site.

6  Increase text size  Add more Images  Make headlines attention grabbing  Use Eye catching photos  Reduce/ Relocate distracting advertisements  Change homepage articles  Breaking news  Dramatic news  Scrolling videos/pictures

7  Cluttered and too much information at once  Lack of focus on what’s important/breaking news  People like the feel of an actual newspaper, such as The New York Times.  May take people longer than they would like to find breaking news.  Can follow CNN on Twitter and get information that way instead of checking their website.

9  iReport is not fact-checked and can be submitted by anyone  The website is cluttered - especially "Entertainment" - with so many pictures  Top Stories of the day are not always found quickly  Website is sometimes slow to load - especially videos  Links to stories need to be larger  Home page should scroll through the day's top stories
